Made Of Steel and Brawn
I am a man who refuses to do things halfway.
For the last week and a half I have been sick as a dying dog. Now I’m on pills and feeling marginally better, but I’m afraid that during my sickness I failed to produce any content for this site. That’s kind of counter-intuitive, I know, given that I had a sudden influx of free time while not able to work due to possible contagions, but it can be hard to focus when you spend most of that time coughing up lung-oysters the size of the fist you see above.
As things stand, I have a couple of albums in the hopper vis a vis stuff I want to write about so stay tuned. In the meantime, while it shames me to admit it (because the first album was so throughly horrid) the new City & Colour album is kind of okay. Dallas Green manages to reign in his voice a little bit and the instrumentation is more varied and fuller. It’s the album he should have written the first time around, and while I’m not sure I can fully recommend it given how wretchedly bad the first one was (and that it still kind of seems like a blatant cash-grab), I can say that it’s a nice little relaxing thing when your voice stops working and breathing is hard.
If you do want to buy the new City & Colour record, go to any old place that pretends to sell music. Seriously Canada, it’s everywhere. I think they even sell it at Foot Lockers and the Bay.
